This tour launches from the Pueblo Viejo beach. You can meet your guide there or meet in downtown Puerto Jimenez in front of Restaurante Carolina for a ride. Bring swim gear, sunscreen, insect repellant (or use ours), boat shoes optional. Be prepared for three hours of light paddling up the river as the tide comes in and a return down the mangrove estuary as the tide is receding. Look for a wide variety of estuarine birds including egrets and ibis. Also spot caymans, snakes, nutria, and a variety of fish types. Drag your kayak over a sand spit at the Platanares gooseneck and paddle the final way home in the Golfo Dulce. |
